Last weekend marked the beginning of Iowa Wesleyan soccer season and both Tiger teams are two games deep into the year.

The men’s team is 1-1 to start the season, topping Buena Vista University 2-1 on Saturday on the road, but falling 2-0 at Coe College on Tuesday. The women are off to an 0-2 start with a 7-0 loss to Rockford College on Saturday and a 15-0 loss to Bethel University on Sunday, with both of those games coming at home.

The men fell down 1-0 midway through the first half of their opener at Buena Vista. Jose Pastor knocked in the first IW goal of the season in the 33rd minute, and Blas Villaseca scored one in the second half to give the Tigers the 2-1 win.

The Tigers gave up two first half goals at Coe College en route to the two-goal loss.

The IW women gave up six first-half goals and one second-half goal in Saturday’s loss. Bethel scored 11 goals in the first half on Sunday and four in the second half.

The IW men are back in action today (Thursday) at Hannibal-LaGrange University. The women will be back at home on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 3 p.m.
