By Ashlee De Wit | Jan 29, 2013

FT. MADISON — The Mt. Pleasant JV boys’ basketball team improved to 5-8 on the season with 48-43 win over the Bloodhounds at Ft. Madison on Friday.

“Ft. Madison made a little run at the end to make the score look closer than it was,” Coach Tyler Rodgers said. “The kids played good basketball all night.”

Brady Anderson made a few free-throws at the end to keep the game out of reach.

Dustin Amos led the Panthers in scoring on the night with 15 points.

Spencer White added nine points.

Ben Canby grabbed six rebounds, while Zach Mulford had four steals and two assists.

The JV team will play next on Thursday against West Branch. The game starts at 5 p.m. at the middle school.

The Mt. Pleasant freshman boys’ team also played at Ft. Madison on Friday night, and the Bloodhounds got the best of the ninth-grade Panthers by a score of 49-29.

Ft. Madison held Mt. Pleasant to only two points in the first quarter of the loss. The Panthers came back with 12 points in the second quarter, but they never could catch up to the hosts.

Tyler Batten scored 12 points to lead Mt. Pleasant, and Alex Carrasco added nine.

Jack Davis chipped in four points, Dylan Bloom scored three, and Keegan Pullis contributed one point to the Panthers’ efforts.

The freshmen won’t play again until Monday, Feb. 4, when they travel to Ottumwa.
