Kathleen L. Wehr, 84, Keota, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at Mercy Hosptial in Iowa City following a brief illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at the St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Father Troy Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Keota. Visitaiton will be held Thursday, May 9, from noon until 7 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Keota QRS and the West Chester 1st Responders.

She was born April 16, 1929, in rural Washington County, and was the daughter of Matthias John and Eleanor Matilda (Schumacher) Wehr. She graduated from West Chester High School in 1948 and then began working at the McCleery calendar factory. She later worked at Advanced Ross and was a clerk at JC Penney. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed mowing, working in her flower beds, cooking, shopping with her nieces and her dog.

Survivors include three brothers, Clarence “Bud” Wehr of Washington, Marion Wehr of Keota and Lester (Barbara) Wehr of Keota.

Preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
