Kathryn Alberta Horton, 85, of Terre Haute, Ill. died Friday, March 29, 2013, at her son’s home.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, Ill. ,with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be held at the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Terre Haute United Methodist Church or the Samaritan’s Purse

She was born at the LaHarpe Davier Hospital on May 19, 1927, the daughter of Seneca Lee and Mabel Stephens Mount. On Sept. 28, 1957, she married John W. Horton in Pittsburg, Kan. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1977.

The couple resided in Pittsburg, Kan. for two years after their marriage. They then moved to the Terre Haute, Ill. area. She attended Elder Grove school. She later attended Lincoln Bible Institute. She worked as a teller at the LaHarpe Bank and taught Sunday School class at the Christian Church. She and her husband raised large pansies which they sold. She enjoyed crocheting, reading her Bible, writing and spending time with family.

She is survived by a son, Daniel (Melinda) Horton of Lomax, Ill., three daughters, Laurel (Mike) White of Winfield, Joy (Tod) Henson of Lomax, Ill. and Becky (Larry) Hanson of Buffalo, Ill.; a brother, Walter Mount of Ostrander, Minn.; a sister, Madelyn Fredrickson of Rock Island, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two sisters, Idel Foster and Maxine Garrett.
