Kay J. Wiele, age 85, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, December 30, 2016, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.

A private burial service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at the Grandview Cemetery in Grandview. The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello is in charge of the arrangements.

Kay was born on August 26, 1931 in Burlington, the daughter of Daniel McKay Yakle and Mabel Margaret Odle Yakle. She attended Wapello schools and married Leonard Wiele on May 30, 1948, in Eliza, Illinois. They had five children. They lived in Wapello, Fairfield, Keosauqua, and Mt. Pleasant for Leonard’s career as an Iowa State Trooper. He preceded her in death in 1971.

She stayed at home to raise her children until 1968 when she became Manager of the Iowa Wesleyan College Bookstore, a job that she loved. She later studied to become an Insurance Agent, working in several agencies in Mt. Pleasant until her retirement.

Kay was of the Christian Faith and attended Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mt. Pleasant for many years.

She enjoyed reading, shopping, her church, going out to eat with her brothers and sisters, spending time with her grandchildren and attending their school events. She opened her heart and her home over the years to help raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Kay is survived by two daughters, Teresa (Sam) Secson of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Lauren (Philip) Kindig of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Janelle Buster and Beverly Stineman both of Grandview; a brother, Dan Yakle of Wapello; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents; two daughters, Nancy Lynn Anderson and Wendy Kay Wiele in infancy; her son, Mark Leonard Wiele; four sisters, Dorothea Robb, Alliene Cutkomp, Mackie Krahl, and Barbara Hewitt; a brother, Jarrett ‘Bud’ Yakle; a grandson, Jason Philip Kindig; and a great grandson, Jonathan Harrell.
