WINFIELD — The second-closest game of the SEISC girls’ shootout took place in Winfield on Friday night. The Lady Wolves outlasted Notre Dame 43-37 to give a win to the North Division.

W-MU got out to a fast start, winning each of the first two quarters by three points each. W-MU led 9-6 after the first period and held a 21-15 lead at halftime.

The Nikes came battling back in the third quarter. Notre Dame scored 12 points in the period, their highest total of the night, and held W-MU to a game-low eight points. It was a two-point game after three periods with the Lady Wolves on top 29-27.

W-MU was able to hang on in the fourth period. The Lady Wolves won the final quarter 14-10 to take down a six-point win.

Lexee Hartsock led the way for W-MU. The senior had 15 points on 5-11 shooting, three blocked shots and two steals.

Karley Schlee hit double-digits as well, mostly due to her efficiency from the free throw line. Schlee went 10-10 from the charity stripe to finish with 14 points, and also co-led the squad with three assists.

Lauren Jamison flirted with a double, scoring eight points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Allie McArtor had two points and 11 rebounds. Jami Wilkerson finished with two points and two steals, and Molly Jennings had two points of her own.

The Wolves snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory. They will be in action on Thursday, Feb. 8, when they take on New London in the first round of regionals. That game will be played in Winfield at 7 p.m.
