Last week's weather impacts Iris Street reconstruction work

Jun 09, 2014

Rain impacted the North Iris Street reconstruction project last week.

However, construction resumes in full force this week, barring inclement weather, of course. Cole Construction is grading North Iris and should be finishing the grading today or tomorrow.

Much of the current work is underground so progress may not be noticeable. DeLong construction will be coming tomorrow to place the sub-drain in phase 2 of the project. Phase 2 is from the entrance to the Walmart Distribution Center off Iris Street south to the centerline of Commerce Drive.

This closure includes the Mapleleaf Drive intersection with Iris Street. Detour signs have been placed, directing motorists to the impacted businesses.

Cole Construction is spending this week placing fabric and sub-base rock on phase 2. The company plans to finish North Iris by Tuesday, June 17, weather permitting.

Shipley Contracting will assemble on either June 17 or 18 to start trimming. Providing the weather cooperates, Shipley plans to pour the main line on phase 2 by Friday, June 20.

There are no changes in the traffic closures this week.
