Loyce D. Jeffrey, 88, of Danville, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington.


The funeral service for Mrs. Loyce Jeffrey will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Harmony Bible Church, Danville with Pastor Chris Carr officiating. Immediately following interment at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, rural Danville, the family will receive friends at a luncheon at the church.

She was born June 18, 1929 in Shelbyville, Mo. to Latrelle Rhodes and Neva Virginia Coe Smoot. On June 22, 1947 she married Patrick T. Kelly in Denmark; they divorced. She married Harvey Jeffrey July 15, 1972 in Mt. Pleasant. He preceded her in death on September 12, 2012.


She was a graduate of Denmark High School and received her LPN degree from Southeastern Community College. Mrs. Jeffrey worked as an LPN in the Intensive Care Unit at Burlington Medical Center. She was a member of Harmony Bible Church, Women's Caring Ministry, fourth grade Sunday school teacher, and AWANA leader and director. After retiring, she and her husband spent three years doing mission work in Ireland with the AWANA program, and another year on St. John Virgin Islands working with children.


Survivors include two daughters; Karen (Steven) Brimhall, Mt. Pleasant and Candace (Bruce) Huber, Danville; one son, O'Brien Kelly, Washington; two stepsons, Mike Jeffrey, Lexington, Okla. and Paul Jeffrey, Springfield, Va.; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Evelyn Stotts of Council Bluffs, Carol Honadel of Overland Park, Kan., Patty (Ron) Mehaffy of Burlington and Cindy (Chuck) Super of Ft. Madison; brother, L.R. (Clarice) Smoot of Moro, Ore.; daughter-in-law, Julia Kelly (Ed) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.


Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Joyce Bennett; brother, Daniel Smoot; sister, Mary Etta Weber; son, Michael Kelly; and two great-granddaughters, Shaelynn and Adalyn Kelly.
