LWML annual Fall Rally scheduled for Oct. 21

Oct 06, 2017

The Mt. Pleasant Zone of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is hosting their annual Fall Rally on Saturday, Oct. 21. The theme of the rally this year is Abounding in Mercy. Registration for the event begins at 8:30 a.m. The meeting and program is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, lunch included, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

The theme is taken from Psalm 86:5, which reads, “You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call you.” The keynote speaker is Helene Kuempel, a medical mission trip nurse. Her presentation is titled “Paving the Way with Mercy in Rural Kenya.”

The ingathering will be a collection of items for the assembly of 75 Mercy Kits for Orphan Grain Train in honor of LWML’s Diamond Anniversary. Monetary donations to defray shipping costs are welcome. Orphan Grain Train is a Christian volunteer network that ships food, clothing, medical and other supplies to people in 65 countries, including the U.S.

It is associated with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), and is a Mt. Pleasant Zone mission project.

The LWML is a recognized auxiliary of LCMS. The Mt. Pleasant Zone consists of women from LCMS churches in Burlington, Fairfield, Ft. Madison, Keokuk, Keosauqua, Mt. Pleasant, Muscatine, Wapello and Wilton.
