Margaret Frances Pogemiller

Margaret Frances Pogemiller, 104, Winfield and formerly of Morning Sun, died July 8, 2014, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 12, at 11 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church of Morning Sun, with the Revs. Jon Evans and Dottie Halverson officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Memorials can be made to the First United Presbyterian Church at Morning Sun, and the Sunrise Terrace Care Center of Winfield.

Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun is in charge of the arrangements.

The daughter of Charles Everett and Ethel Humphrey Cummings, she was born Feb. 12, 1910, in Marshall Township, Louisa County, Iowa. She married Albert Pogemiller on May 18, 1935. They were owners and operators of the Pogemiller Orchard and farmed near Morning Sun for over 50 years.

She was a graduate of Morning Sun High School in 1928, and attended the Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, Neb. She taught for two years at the Washington Country School, located in Virginia Grove, Louisa County.

She was a homemaker and helped her husband with the work of the orchard and the farm. She enjoyed gardening and baking pies.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun and in earlier years had an active part in the women’s organization of the church.

Survivors include her daughter Mary Linda (Ed) Kilpatrick of Winfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Glen Cummings and an infant sister.
