Margaret Marie Biggerstaff, 91, Winfield, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Park Place Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. at the Winfield Open Bible Church with the Rev. Edward Spencer and Allison Malcolm officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. A private burial at the Columbus City cemetery will be at a later date. Memorials have been established for the Winfield First Responders and the 180 Youth Center in Winfield. Honts Funeral Home in Winfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

The daughter of Edlef Thede and Marie Boysen, she was born Oct. 21, 1922, at rural Wapello. She married Raymond Werner in February of 1942 and they later divorced. In May of 1973 she married Lester Biggerstaff. He preceded her in death. She was a graduate of the Wapello High School. She worked as a certified nursing assistant and later as a home health aide. She was active in the Lions Club, and was a former 4-H leader, Girl Scout, Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. She was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Trudy (Max) Sharp of Marshalltown; one son, Ted (Lori) Werner of Danville; five step-children; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers.
