Marian Viola Anderson, 94, of New London, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at the Donnellson Health Center, Donnellson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Elliott Chapel, New London. the Rev. James Roth will officiate with interment being held in Burge Cemetery, rural New London. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the New London Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born July 25, 1919, at Storm Lake, to Conrad A. and Judith Pauline Lunquist Swanson. On Aug. 27, 1936, she married Edwin Anderson. He preceded her in death. She worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown and in housekeeping at the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of R.S.V.P. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and needlepoint. She enjoyed being out on the farm with her husband.

She is survived by one daughter, June (Frank) Christner of New London; two sons, David (Brenda) Anderson of St. Ansgar, and Donnie Anderson of Lexington, Ky.; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Gloria (Jim) Delashmutt of Davenport and Margaret Huisman of Elmwood, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Darwin Anderson; one daughter, Judy Borkowski; five sisters, Helen Hires, Ruth Anderson, Doris Anderson, Evangeline Savage and Bonnie Anker; and two brothers, Donald and Everette Swanson.
