Mildred Lydia (Neu) Jeffers

Mildred Lydia (Neu) Jeffers, 91, of Dallas, Texas, and formerly of Farmington, died on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at her home.

According to her wishes, her body has been cremated. Friends may call after 1 p.m., on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Schmitz Funeral Home, in Farmington, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., that evening. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Farmington United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Elrod officiating. Following the memorial service, a private family burial will be held at Greenglade Cemetery and a meal will follow at the church.

A memorial has been established in her memory for the Farmington EMT’s. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schmitzlfuneralhomes.com. The Schmitz Funeral Home, in Farmington, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Jeffers was born on Oct. 30, 1925, in Farmington, the daughter of George and Lydia Neu. She graduated from Farmington High School. On July 23, 1960, she married Merlyn “Pete” Jeffers.

She was employed at Farmington Co-Operative Creamery for 19 years. She also assisted her husband with his milk route business for 20 years, and then worked part-time at a local insurance business for 20 years.

She was a member of Farmington United Methodist Church.

Jeffers is survived by one daughter, Mary (John) Young, of Red Oak, Texas; one son, Jon (Pam Christy) Jeffers, of Farmington; four grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merlyn; two siblings in infancy; two brothers, Robert Neu and Herbert Neu; and three sisters, Viola Proenneke, Verna Henderson and Freda Hoaglin.
