The Mt. Pleasant baseball team had to hold on tight during a seventh-inning rally by Mediapolis on Wednesday night, but the Panthers escaped with a 6-4 win.

Mt. Pleasant used a great outing by starting pitcher Jordan Magnani and a big day from Cooper Huckabone to get to that point, and pick up a non-conference victory.

The Panthers scored two runs in the third inning and two in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. Mediapolis scored one in the sixth but the Panthers put up two more in the bottom half to take a 6-1 advantage.

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the seventh inning and had the bases loaded with the tying run on second base, but relief pitcher Bryce Anderson was able to escape the jam and lock up the win.

Magnani went five innings and gave up one earned run on five hits and one walk, while striking out two batters. Anderson went two innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits and no walks.

Huckabone went 3-4 with a triple, a double, two RBIs and one run scored. Zac Ebeling was 2-3 with an RBI. Caleb Potts went 2-4.

Chase Lamm went 1-3 with a double, a stolen base and two runs. Zach Beason was 1-4 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base. Trace White and Keegan Rich finished the day with one RBI apiece.

Mt. Pleasant moved to 9-8 with the win. The Panthers will look to add to their 6-2 record tonight (Thursday) against Keokuk, at 5:30 p.m.
