MP basketball players receive team awards

Apr 03, 2014

The Mt. Pleasant boys’ basketball team had its end-of-season banquet, and players received awards that were voted on by their teammates.

Pat Canby was named Player to Watch, and Nathan McConnell received the Spirit Award.

The “Extra Heartbeat” award went to Trey Magnani, and Nike Phillips was chosen as Most Valuable Practice Player.

Garrett Carlston was chosen by the coaching staff for the “Coaches Appreciation” award.

The four captains — Magnani, Brandon Sanchez, Dustin Amos and Zach Mulford — were also recognized at the banquet.

This season, the Panthers set a school record with 145 3-pointers made on the season, and Zach Mulford tied the school record for 3-point baskets in one game with seven.
