The pins didn’t fall the way the Panthers wanted them to during Tuesday’s state qualifying meet at Iris Bowling Center.

Keokuk swept both the girls’ and the boys’ competitions. Mt. Pleasant finished second in the girls’ meet with a 2,162 and third in the boys’ race, with a 2,846.

Emma Overton had the best day of any MP bowler, but she still fell just short of the state tournament. She rolled a 178 in her first game and a 187 in her second game to finish at 365, which was second overall.

Kelsey Hummell rolled a 169 and a 143 to score 311. Emily Shumaker finished at 277. Keri Herr rolled a 273. Brittany Triska finished at 253 and Betsy Bockting rolled a 168.

Baker games for the Mt. Pleasant girls went 123, 155, 128, 181 and 96.

For the boys, both Clayton and Cameron Sammons bowled over 400 on the day.

Clayton was sixth individually, rolling a 213 and a 196 to score 409. Cameron rolled a 191 and a 214 to finish seventh at 405.

Jacob Crooks rolled a 353 on the day. Hunter Brown finished at 345. Sam Anderson threw a 323 and Levi Mills rolled a 301.

Baker games for the Mt. Pleasant boys went 174, 220, 186, 215 and 216.

Neither team was able to score enough to get an at large berth to state. Overton was the closest individually but finished just off the mark.
