MP bowling takes on Sigourney

OTTUMWA — The Mt. Pleasant bowling teams took on Sigourney on Thursday evening in a non-conference matchup. The boys lost a tight one, 2,510-2,498, and the girls scored a 1,855. Sigourney did not have a girls’ team, so Mt. Pleasant bowled unopposed.

The boys’ team was led by Sam Anderson, who threw a 203 in his first game and a 190 in his second game for a 393. Ethan Oilar rolled a 148 and a 202 to score a 350. Levi Mills rolled a 166 and a 179 to finish at 345.

Mark Steinhoff rolled a 194 and a 143 to finish at 337. Tristan Dirth rolled a 157 and a 131 for a final score of 288, and Brandon Barton rolled a 130 and a 141 to finish at 171.

The MP boys’ baker games went 156, 133, 159, 145 and 183 for a final score of 776.

The girls’ team was led by Emily Shumaker. She threw a 145 in her first game and a 160 in her second game to score 305. Tylisa Kelley was second on the team, rolling a 128 and a 142 for a final score of 270.

Kelsey Hummell rolled a 128 and a 112 to finish at 240. Alexis Wohlleber bowled a 119 and a 117 for a 236. Gillian Anderson rolled a 130 and a 90 to score 220, and Meadow Jensen rolled an 85 and a 121 for a final score of 206.

The girls’ baker games went 140, 126, 88, 125 and 105 for a final mark of 584.

The junior varsity boys had two teams going. The first team was led by Kalib Wilson, who rolled a 311 (129, 182). Blaine Bowman finished at 231 (88, 143). Kyle Medina rolled a 226 (142, 84). Clayton Wilson rolled a 214 (129, 85), and Payton Lovan rolled a 203 (107, 96).

Baker games for the first team went 78, 130, 101, 106 and 86 for a final scoer of 501.

The second junior varsity team had three bowlers. Carlos Figeueroa led the way with a 311 (129, 182). Noel Lopez rolled a 231 (88, 143), and Ben Baccam rolled a 203 (107, 96).

Baccam, Lopez and Figueroa combined for a baker round of 500 (121, 88, 96, 109 and 86).
