MP eighth-grade volleyball ‘A’ team defeats Ottumwa

The Mt. Pleasant eighth-grade volleyball team hosted Ottumwa Monday, and the “A” team picked up a win over the Bulldogs.

The Panthers lost the “B” match and split the “C” and “D” matches.

The Mt. Pleasant A team won by scores of 21-14 and 21-17.

Dani Broeker went 9-of-11 serving and Kaylynn Batey was 8-of-9.

Jackie Fraise was a perfect 7-for-7 and Mikayla Beason went 5-of-6.

In a close B match, Ottumwa won by scores of 22-20 and 21-18.

Chloe Beavers went 9-for-11 serving and Katie Ensminger was 5-for-7. Ashley DeKraai was 4-for-6.

Ottumwa took the first game of the C match by a score of 21-16 and then came back to win 23-21.

Sarah Lanphier was 8-for-9 serving, Julia Pross was 7-for-9 and Bea Fitten was 6-for-8.

Nicole Schlatter went 14-for-17 serving in the D match and Stacey Apodaca went 4-for-6. The Panthers won game one by a score of 21-18 and lost game two, 21-19.

They play again Monday when they host Aldo Leopold (Burlington) at 4:30 p.m.
