BURLINGTON — The Mt. Pleasant volleyball team couldn’t quite scoop up a win on Saturday in a tournament at Burlington.

The Panthers dropped four games, falling 2-0 to Burlington, Fairfield and Galesburg, Ill., and dropping a nail-biting three-set match against Davis County.

The Panthers had to claw back in their three set loss against the Mustangs. Davis County took game one 21-12, but the Panthers tied it up with a 21-14 win in the second set. Mt. Pleasant fell 15-13 in the deciding set however, and the Mustangs got away with a victory.

Kalynn Batey led the Panthers with four kills and three blocks in that loss. Jackie Fraise had three kills and Ashlee Menke had two.

Batey also had four kills in the Panthers’ 21-12, 21-16 loss to Burlington. Dani Broeker had 10 digs in that game and Menke finished with seven assists.

Mt. Pleasant fell 21-14, 21-14 to Fairfield. Batey led again with three kills. Menke had seven assists.

The Panthers played Galesburg close in both sets but lost 22-20 and 21-17. Fraise led the team with five kills in that loss and Hannah Hess finished with four. Keelyn McNamee tallied four digs in that game, and Menke had nine assists.

Mt. Pleasant sits at 8-14 overall and has been scuffling a bit lately, losing eight of their last nine games. The Panthers have a great opportunity tonight (Tuesday) however, as they host No. 15 Fairfield at 7:30 p.m.
