Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club was the site of the 2018 Southeast Conference girls’ golf meet on Monday, and the hosting Panthers utilized their home field advantage for a second-place finish.

The Panthers shot a 410, which was good enough to top Keokuk (495) and Fairfield (508), but Washington had a dominant outing, shooting a 315 for first place.

The Demons had the top five scores, including a first-place 72 from Sarah Nacos. Washington would have swept all six medals but Anni Liechty broke up the potential sweep by shooting a 95 for sixth. Liechty shot a 49 on her first nine holes and a 46 on the second nine. She did have the Panther’ only birdie for the day, which came on the par-three hole five.

Placing second on the team and eighth-place overall was Elli Liechty. She stayed consistant, shooting a 50 in both rounds to wind up at 100.

Tori Witthoft picked up a top-10 finish as well, shooting a 105. She shot a 56 in her first nine and a 49 in the second round to finish ninth overall. Melody Miller finished just one stroke outside of the top 10 with a 110. She shot a 55 in both rounds.

Michal Wohlleber shot a first-round 59 before shedding seven-strokes off her total with a second-round 52. That put her one shot behind Miller with a 111. Grace Sheetz shot a 121, going 60 in the first round and 61 in the second round.

All four SEC teams will be in Davenport on Monday, May 21, for the Class 4A regional tournament.
