Courtney Mabeus led the Mt. Pleasant girls’ golf team to a win over Washington, 198-224, on Monday at Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club.

“Shooting under 200 and defeating Washington were very good accomplishments for our young team yesterday,” Coach Jim Kelly said. “The girls continue to improve and took advantage of playing on our home course.”

Mabeus’ score of 47 earned her medalist honors at the Southeast Conference meet; Emily Cox shot a 49 and was the runner-up medalist.

“Courtney’s medalist round of 47 was outstanding in these conditions and it was good to see Emily break 50 for the first time this year with her score of 49,” Kelly said.

Elle Schleisman and Haley Booton each completed the course in 51 strokes to round out the Panthers’ team score.

Brianne Holtkamp shot a 55 for the Panthers, and Hailey Spence finished with a score of 65.

Washington was led by Megan Bettendorf and Sarah Waite, each of whom shot a 53.

Next up for the Panthers is another home meet, this time against Fairfield. Mt. Pleasant hosts the Trojans on Monday, April 22, at 4 p.m.
