The Mt. Pleasant News is looking to make a move.

The Mt. Pleasant News’ current building will be going on the market as the newspaper will begin looking for a new office space more suitable for its current needs.

“The Mt. Pleasant News will continue to serve the Henry County community as a daily, Monday through Friday newspaper,” said Managing Editor Karyn Spory. “We’re excited to move into a building that will better serve the needs of our hardworking staff and a site that will be easier for our customers to navigate.”

As journalism has changed so has the demands of a newsroom. The entrance of the digital world removed the need of a dark room for photo processing. Once the press was removed and printing done first in Washington and now Cedar Rapids, the production area, a large portion of the 8,500 square-foot building was made unnecessary.

The News, which is currently located at 215 W. Monroe St., will be listed with the Steffes Group beginning next week.

“We’re hoping someone can find new life for a building that has been so important to The News as well as the city of Mt. Pleasant,” said Spory.

For more information about the building, contact realtor Dennis Ebersole at 319-217-0658 or email
