Sep 19, 2017

“Cage the Falcons” is the theme for homecoming week Sept. 25-30 at Mt. Pleasant High School.

Capping the week will be the football game Friday, Sept. 29 against the West Burlingon-Notre Dame Falcons at 7:30 p.m. at Evans Field. The freshmen teams from the two schools tee it up at 5 p.m.

The homecoming parade will begin at 3:01 p.m. Sept. 29. John Kuhens and his wife, Suzie, will serve as grand marshals of the parade.

The homecoming dance is Saturday, Sept. 30, from 8:30-11:30 p.m.

Themes for each day during the week include (there is no school Monday due to professional development): Tuesday — Heroes and Legends Day; Wednesday — Music Genre (rocker, rapper or country) Day; Thursday — America/Patriotic Day; Friday — Maroon and Gold Spirit Day.

Boys’ powder puff volleyball is planned Monday night at 8:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. High school juniors will play the seniors in the prelims. The match follows the junior-varsity football game with Ft. Madison.

Mt. Pleasant hosts Fairfield in volleyball Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. The powder-puff boys’ volleyball finals (juniors vs. seniors) follows the MP-Fairfield match.

Boom day for students and staff is Thursday with a 10 a.m. pep rally at the high school. That evening will be “Boom Night” activities at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex. The booster club supper begins at 5:30 p.m. A powder-puff football game between the junior and senior class girls is at 6 p.m.

During Boom Night, the homecoming royalty also will be announced.
