The Mt. Pleasant girls’ tennis team has yet to lose a match.

The Panthers had another perfect day when they defeated Centerville by a score of 9-0 at East Lake Park on Tuesday.

They improve to 2-0 on the season after a 9-0 victory over Ft. Madison last week.

Taylor Beatty won the No. 1 singles match by a score of 8-2 over Sydney Ocker and Elizabeth Shaw battled back from a 4-1 deficit to claim an 8-6 win over Sydney Winkel.

In No. 3 singles, Tasha Glover cruised past Kirsten Brauman, 8-0.

Raeanna Crile defeated Elizabeth Hargrave, 8-3, in No. 4 singles, and No. 5 Ashton Whaley topped Alex Kelly, 8-2.

Emily Hatfield won against Nyrobi McIntire, 8-2.

In doubles play, Beatty and Glover defeated Ocker and Winkel, 8-2, while Shaw and Whaley took down Hargrave and Kelly by the same score. Crile and Hatfield won against McIntire and Amory Glosser by a score of 8-1.

The Mt. Pleasant boys’ tennis team played at Centerville on Tuesday, where they were dealt their first loss of the season, 6-3.

“We were missing a couple kids at the top of our lineup, and we got off to a slow start in singles,” Coach Tyler Rodgers said. “We had some chances and came up short.”

One win for the Panthers came from Austin Meyer, who claimed the No. 4 singles match by a score of 9-8 after trailing 5-0 early.

Alex Sandeen won the No. 5 singles match, 8-3, picking up his first varsity win in his first varsity match.

The doubles team of Zach Schmitz and Tyler Pace also won for Mt. Pleasant, taking No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-2.

The Panthers are 2-1 on the season.

Next up for the Mt. Pleasant tennis teams is Thursday’s meet against Fairfield. The girls host the Trojans at East Lake Park, and the boys’ team travels to Fairfield.
