Mt. Pleasant Middle School girls run at Washington Invitational

WASHINGTON — The Mt. Pleasant middle school girls’ track and field team ran at Washington on Friday, May 4. The Panthers walked away with four wins, three of which came from the eighth-graders.

The eighth-grade shuttle hurdle team of Jenna Gilmore, Abby Blint, Thanh Phung and Kenna Lamm picked up a win. The distance medley squad of Clare Schnicker, Mya Randall, Ralyn Seberg and Monroe Swain took first as well. Kenna Lamm won the 200-meter hurdles for the only Panther individual win of the day.

The eighth-graders had five second-place finishes on the day. The 4X800 team of Abby West, Malena Yocum, Kahlia Parrish and Alyssa Dascher took second. Allison Elmore finished second in the 100-meter dash. Lamm took second in the 400-meter dash. Gilmore was second in the 100-meter hurdles, and Jadan Brumbaugh took silver in the shot put.

The eighth-graders also had seven third-place finishes. Blint was third in the 1500-meter run. Elmore placed third in the 200-meter dash. Gilmore was third in the 200-meter hurdles. Phung was third in the long jump.

Alyssa Dascher placed third in both the 800-meter run and the discus throw. The sprint medley team of Giesele Fajardo-Pena, Randall, Schnicker and Seberg also picked up the bronze.

The shuttle hurdle relay team picked up the only win for the seventh-grade Panthers. The squad of Tristan Shull, Jayden Housh, Mica Carter and Andrea Lopreato won the race in 1:22.54.

The seventh-graders had two second-place finishes. The 4X100 squad of Shull, Lopreato, Carter and Mackenzie Musselman took silver in 1:03.86, and Kylee Coleman took second in the discus with a throw of 70-03.

The seventh-graders also had three third-place finishes. Lopreato finished third in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing in 20.35 seconds. The 4X800 team of Izabelle Yoder, Eva Rounceville, Maleena Sylavong and Isabelle Meador placed third in 13:07.86, and the 4X400 team of Eva Rounceville, Andrea Barrios, Chloe Ward and Yoder placed third in 5:18.48.
