FT. MADISON — The Mt. Pleasant softball team picked up its first Southeast Conference win on Thursday night, splitting road games with Ft. Madison.

The Panthers won the first game, 3-2, in a pitcher’s dual. Ft. Madison was able to take down MP in game two, beating the Panthers 8-3.

Anni Liechty willed the Panthers to a win in game one, holding the Bloodhounds to just two hits in her seven innings of work. Chi Glaha and Hannah Newman each went 2-3 at the plate.

Keelyn McNamee was in the circle in game two. The hounds got to McNamee, putting up eight runs at the plate, and the Panther offense stayed relatively quiet.

Samantha Broeker hit her first varsity homerun in the game two loss.

Mt. Pleasant fell to 1-3 in the SEC. Washington and Fairfield split their games in Fairfield, meaning Keokuk is the only remaining SEC softball team without a loss.

Mt. Pleasant will have a couple of early games at Danville on Saturday, June 2. The Panthers will take on the Bears for a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m.
