Musical siblings close Civic Music’s 88th season

BURLINGTON - Derik Nelson and Family’s signature sound will be presented in a program filled with their velvety three-part vocal harmonies at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Burlington Memorial Auditorium. The show is sponsored by the Burlington Fine Arts League.

That afternoon, the trio also will provide a free performance for area students beginning at 1 p.m. at the auditorium.

Raised in the Pacific Northwest, siblings Derik, Riana and Dalten have been performing together since childhood. They’ve garnered more than 3.6 million views on YouTube, performed in more than 90 cities across the U.S., and reached more than 50,000 students with educational music workshops and fundraising assemblies.

Derik appeared regularly as the lead guitarist on television’s “Glee,” among other shows.

Featuring pristine sound, a sophisticated lightshow and an integrated 20-foot video display, Derik’s interactive “clones” appear throughout the show on the video wall. The show uses uses the latest technology to take audiences on an aural and visual journey through time, space and musical “settings.”

Tickets can be purchased through Burlington Civic Music by calling 319-752-0336, or at the Port of Burlington Welcome Center every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets also will be available at Memorial Auditorium the night of the show. If students do not travel to the auditorium with their schools, they must accompany adults to the free afternoon performance.
