NEW LONDON — The New London baseball team threw their punches early on Monday night against Notre Dame. The Tigers scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the first inning en route to a 4-2 SEISC South Division win.

New London’s first four batters of the game came around to score in their first time around. Isaac McSorley, Britt Noel, Sam Loyd and Mason Porter each crossed the plate in the first inning. Shae Summerfield plated two of them with a two-RBI hit as the Tigers went up 4-0 early.

Noel started the game and was nearly untouchable in the first five innings. He kept Notre Dame off the scoreboard until the top of the sixth, where the Nikes would finally catch fire.

Notre Dame finally got to Noel in the top of the sixth, getting two runs and knocking him out of the ballgame. Loyd stepped in to close the door, however, earning a two-inning save.

Summerfield went 2-3 with two RBIs to lead the Tigers offensively. Porter finished 2-4 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base. Noel was 2-4 with a stolen base and a run scored. Loyd was 2-4 with two walks and a run scored.

McSorley went 1-4 with a double and a run scored. Darius Whaley went 1-2 and Keontae Luckett was 1-3.

Noel threw five innings and gave up two earned runs on three hits and four walks to earn the win. He struck out eight Nikes along the way. Loyd gave up two hits and one walk over his two innings but gave up no runs. He struck out two.

The Tigers have now won six games in a row after falling 8-0 to Cardinal in the season opener. New London travels to Keosauqua tonight (Tuesday) to take on a 5-2 Van Buren team in another South Division matchup.
