New London falls in non-conference game

NEW LONDON — Keokuk, scoring five times in the first two innings, took the measure of New London, 9-2, Wednesday night.

The winners expanded the advantage to 9-0 before New London scored a twice in the sixth inning.

Devon Smith’s two doubles and a single in four at-bats topped New London’s offensive stats. Jayden Flowers was close behind with a double and two singles. Quincy Porter, Cole Helmerson and Justin Henecke rapped singles for the Tigers.

On the mound, Mitch Boles took the loss. Boles threw the first five innings, allowing nine earned runs, striking out six and walking two. Hunter Moeller finished up, recording two strikeouts in two innings of work.
