BURLINGTON — New London and Notre Dame squared off in an SEISC double-header on Tuesday night and fans saw a couple of close games that ended in a split. The Tiger boys pulled off a 68-59 victory, but the girls fell just short in a 49-43 loss.

The boys’ team, fresh off a state berth last season, has started the year without star small-forward Mason Porter, who is currently out with a finger injury. The rest of the squad stepped up in a big way however, with four players finishing in double-digits.

Grand Swanson had a big day, dropping 22 points on the Nikes and adding 12 rebounds, both of which led the team. Isaac McSorley had 15 points. Keontae Luckett had a double-double with 11 points and 13 assists, and Tyler Henecke added 10 points.

The girls’ team suffered its second-straight six-point loss to open the season.

Breanna Mettler led the team again, this time with seven points and seven rebounds. Sydni Coleman added six points and seven rebounds. Marah Hartrick finished with six points and seven rebounds, and Alisha Boles had six points. Kara Krieger added six rebounds to the team’s total.

The girls’ team fell to 0-2 to start the season. The boys went to 1-0 with the win.
