NEW LONDON — The New London football team just keeps rolling. The Tigers cruised to yet another win on Friday night, this time pounding North Mahaska 54-6.

New London had another great day running the football. Keontae Luckett led the offense with 95 yards and three touchdowns on 10 rushing attempts, and Dallas Bell added 60 yards and a score on 11 attempts.

Quarterback Isaac McSorley had another efficient day, going 8-10 for 108 yards and two touchdowns, and adding 59 yards on the ground.

Mason Porter led the team in receiving yards, catching four passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. Lucket caught two passes for 21 yards. Jordan Johnson had one catch for 20 yards, and Gabe Carter caught a 10-yard pass fora touchdown.

The Tiger defense had another steller day. Bell had the big play on the defensive end of the ball, intercepting a pass and bringing it 43-yards back to the house for a pick-six. That was New London’s only takeaway of the game.

Matt Oliver led the defense with five tackles. Gavin Holmes had 4.5 tackles and one sack, Jaxon Allen and Justin Carter each finished with four tackles.

New London had another special teams score in the game. This time it was Luckett who brought a kick retun to the house. It was the second week in a row the Tigers scored on a kick return. Bell had one in Montezuma.

The Tigers moved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the district. They continue to keep pace with both Pekin and Lynnville-Sully. All three teams are undefeated this year.

Class A District 6 really heats up this Friday as Pekin heads to Lynnville-Sully for a marquee matchup. New London will play Lynnville-Sully at home one week later and travel to Pekin a week after that.

Before thinking about the road ahead, the Tigers will have to get through Cardinal . They’ll face the Comets on the road this Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m.
