No feet on this bridge —  for now

The Oakland Mills Walk Bridge will be temporarily closed to foot traffic while the Henry County Conservation Department puts up railings to narrow the path of traffic on the southern side. These railings are a temporary fix for the deteriorating bridge, where the load capacity on the southern portion is half of what is required by Iowa Code.

Is the Henry County Conservation looking into options to fix the bridge permanently?  Maybe grants, fundraisers, including another very successful and well attended Jam @ The Dam?  I'm sure many people are interested in helping to restore this old landmark before it's too late.  Good luck and keep us posted. :)
