Noel, Christner pace New London's 17-0 three-inning softball win at Harmoney

Jul 07, 2014

FARMINGTON — Sophomore centerfielder Victoria Noel homered and doubled, driving in six runs; New London hitters collected eight walks from Harmony pitchers; Morgan Christner threw a three-inning no-hitter; the Tigers stole eight bases.

All of the above figured heavily in a 17-0, three-inning New London triumph July 3 in conference softball.

Noel, with her homer and double, accounted for nine runs, driving in six and scoring three times. She also walked twice at the plate and stole two bases.

Christner, meanwhile, mowed down the Harmony hitters, walking two and recording eight of the nine outs via strikeouts.

The state’s third-ranked (Class 1A) team, now 23-4 on the season, needed just 11 hits for its offensive barrage. Catcher Emily Parks doubled and singled while Sami Koontz and Sarah Holtkamp each had a pair of singles. Nearly every hitter in the Tiger lineup had at least one hit. The final two singles were divided evenly between Christner, Jorgi Krieger and Josten Boyer.
