Notre Dame too much for MP girls

Apr 23, 2014

The Mt. Pleasant girls’ soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Burlington Notre Dame on Tuesday.

“They’re a very talented team, but (we) hung with them,” Coach Brennan Williams said.

The Falcons scored one goal midway through first half and another with just a minute left in the match.

“Tiffany Liechty had eight saves and played very well,” Williams said.

The JV team was supposed to have a match as well — but the referees apparently didn’t know it, and they left after the varsity match. The JV teams still got on the field, playing an unofficial match that was more like a scrimmage.

The Panthers, now 1-4 and still 1-1 in the Southeast Conference, will play again Thursday when they host Holy Trinity at East Lake Park.
