Francis Bittle is a junior at Mt. Pleasant High School and a member of the Panther cross-country team.

Bittle is a new runner for the Panthers this year. She met with The News on Tuesday before practice.

The questions are listed in bold with Bittle’s answers following.

Did you grow up here in Mt. Pleasant? Kind of. I grew up in Mt. Pleasant, Burlington and in Ohio a little bit.

How many different schools have you been in? Three different school districts.

When did you wind up in the Mt. Pleasant school district? The middle of fourth-grade.

How long have you been running? This is my first year.

I thought so. What made you go out? Mainly Thad (Brooks), who is my boyfriend. I thought it might be interesting to try something new.

Have you liked it? It is challenging, but yeah.

Have you made plans for after high school? I am planning on hopefully going to the University of Iowa. I want to study medicine and hopefully go on to Neurosurgery or Trauma Surgery

That is big stuff. How many years do you have to be in school for that? About 12, probably.

When you are not at school or practice, what could you be found doing? Usually working at Butch’s River Rock Cafe or at home.

Which one is the talker out of Coach Murray and Coach Anderson? Probably Coach Murray. He’s always talking to us like, “beat the other teams.”

If you had to go out for one new sport you haven’t played in high school, what would it be? Probably volleyball. It seems like an intense game and just seems fun.

Do you have any superstitions? Not really. I just kind of go with the flow.

Where would you go if you could travel anywhere in the world? Definitely Spain. It is really pretty, and I like Spanish culture.

Have you ever been out of the country? No.

Me neither, I don’t even have my passport. Me neither! (Laughing)

What is your favorite cell phone app? Snapchat.

If you could spend the day with one celebrity, who would you choose? Probably Gabby Douglas.

That’s a good one. What would you guys do? I would like her to teach me some new skills in gymnastics.

Are you a tumbler? Can you do all that stuff? Yeah!

Really? Can you do a backflip? Yeah!

What if you could pick a superpower? Probably to be invisible. It would be fun to pull pranks on people and stuff.

Would you cut course though? Probably not! I wouldn’t be able to live with that, knowing that you cheated.

Do you have a favorite teacher? Probably Mrs. Holtkamp. I like anatomy and she is a pretty good teacher.

Do you have any shout outs? Just like, the team. They’ve been really awesome to me. I guess maybe Abby Ryon. She’s the most supportive one and she’s really nice. She is always there for everybody.

Panther Profile is a series of interviews with Mt. Pleasant athletes currently in season. This season will focus on athletes in cross-country, football and volleyball.
