It was a busy weekend for the state-bound Mt. Pleasant softball team.

The Panthers held a “Meet the Players” day Saturday morning. Players and coaches signed autographs, talked with fans and posed for pictures at Shottenkirk Chevrolet.

On Sunday evening, the team held their official send-off at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex, despite not technically leaving until Monday. At the send-off, head coach Troy Mears and the Panther seniors thanked parents and fans for their support before heading off.

Sherrif Rich McNamee led the Panthers, in their team vans, on a parade around town with parents and fans riding behind. The Panthers rode around Mt. Pleasant for a while before returning back to Mapleleaf.

The Class 4A tournament began today (Tuesday) at 1 p.m. Mt. Pleasant’s game is set to begin at 3 p.m.

Full results from the Panthers’ first round action will be in Wednesday’s issue of The News.
