FAIRFIELD — The Mt. Pleasant boys’ golf team defeated Keokuk in a Southeast Conference dual meet on Friday before taking sixth place of eight teams at the Fairfield Invite on Saturday.

The Panthers had a good day on their home course on Friday, led by Kiley Miller’s one-over-par 37.

Quinn Daniel shot a 39 on the sunny but windy day, while Kyle Kauffman scored a 43 and Jordon Phomsouvandara completed the course in 45 strokes.

They finished with a team total of 164, beating Keokuk’s 170.

Also golfing for the Panthers were Jacob Smith (47) and Collin Baccam (53).

At Saturday’s Fairfield Invite, the Panthers didn’t fare as well.

Medals went to the top 10, which included one of the Mt. Pleasant golfers: Miller placed eighth overall with his score of 79.

However, he was seven strokes ahead of his closest Panther teammate. Daniel shot an 86, followed by Smith with a 92. Phomsouvandara shot a 93 to round out the Panthers’ team score.

Also golfing for Mt. Pleasant were Kauffman (101) and Baccam (108).

They finished with a team total of 350.

Centerville won the meet with a score of 315.

Host team Fairfield was second with a score of 322, followed by Keokuk (333), Washington (340), Oskaloosa (344), Mt. Pleasant, Ft. Madison (381) and Albia (402).

Next up for the Panthers is another conference meet. They host Ft. Madison on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club. They then travel to Oskaloosa on Thursday, May 2, for a make up of the tournament that was supposed to be April 23.
