MP baseball team moves to 4-0 in SEC with two more dominant wins

FT. MADISON — The Mt. Pleasant baseball team crushed Ft. Madison in both games of their Southeast Conference doubleheader on Thursday night. The Panthers blasted the Hounds 15-0 in game one and 10-0 in game two.

Jordan Magnani was on the mound for game one and picked up the victory, throwing two and two-thirds innings and giving up just three hits and three walks, while striking out one batter.

Cooper Huckabone had a huge game, going 3-3 with three doubles, five RBIs and three runs scored. Rylan Seberg went 1-3 with an RBI and four runs scored. Caleb Potts was 1-3 with two RBIs. Chase Lamm and Bryce Anderson each had one RBI.

Anderson picked up the win on the mound in game two, going two innings and giving up two hits and two walks, while striking out one batter.

Magnani had a monster game at the plate, going 2-3 with two doubles and a run scored. Huckabone was 3-4 with two RBIs. Colby Potts was 1-1 with an RBI and Grant Goody went 1-3 with an RBI.

Mt. Pleasant moved to above .500 for the first time this season with a 5-4 record overall. They are 4-0 in SEC play, having dominated all four games. In four SEC contests, Mt. Pleasant is outscoring opponents 5-1.

Mt. Pleasant is the only undefeated team left in the SEC. Washington and Fairfield also played on Thursday night, splitting their two games.

The Panthers will be at Muscatine on Saturday, June 2, where they will begin a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m.

The next SEC doubleheader for Mt. Pleasant isn’t until Thursday, June 7, when they take on Washington at home.
