Paving on streets bordering Central Park will begin either Wednesday or Thursday

Sep 23, 2013

First concrete pour on the square construction project will be Sept. 25 or Sept. 26, according to Warner Engineering Associates Inc. of Mt. Pleasant, engineering firm for the project.

Warner said the square project is moving along very well. Engineering fabric and sub-base placement has been completed. Forms are to be set by tomorrow for the paving.

The paving will begin at the northeast corner of the square and proceed counterclockwise along Main, Monroe and Jefferson. Mike Nelson Concrete, the general contractor for the firm, plans to pour daily until they have the pavement finished.

Mt. Pleasant Municipal Utilities will continue installing new electric and water lines in Central Park. They have completed relocating hydrants on the east, west and north sides of the park.

Finally, Kinney & Sons will continue grading for new sidewalks on the interior of the square and replace an old drain line not properly working.
