Recent traffic stops result in arrests

Two recent traffic stops by Henry County Sheriff’s deputies have resulted in arrests.

A deputy stopped a 2016 Toyota Corolla Aug. 7 for speeding near the intersection of 235th Street and Franklin Avenue, west of Mt. Pleasant.

Wyatt Scott Guthrie, Mt. Pleasant, was driving at a high rate of speed and under the influence of alcohol, according to the sheriff office’s report.

Guthrie was arrested and transported to the Henry County Jail where he was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, second offense. Guthrie was also cited for speeding.

Deputies made a traffic stop July 29 in the 1100 grid of Highway 34. Resulting from the stop, Joshua Meth, 28, Fairfield, was arrested and charged with driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor; carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor; fraudulent use of registration, a simple misdemeanor; and failure to provide proof of financial liability, a simple misdemeanor.

A passenger in the vehicle, Sara Zeller, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
