Report from the Chapter NZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood

Chapter NZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood met for their regular meeting on Monday, June 26, 2017, at the log cabin in Saunders Park with Amy Pullis, Madison Pullis, Jennifer Stater, Hannah Stater, Tabbi Schimmelpfennig, Kris Emerson and Jennifer Kohorst serving as co-hostesses. President Lanna Moeller presided at the 10 a.m. business meeting with 27 members present.

Chaplain Lea McCormick shared the scripture and Karen Brimhall, recording secretary pro-tem, read the minutes from the previous meeting. Vice President Connie Geiser reported that the next regular meeting will be held Monday, July 24, for 9:30 a.m. coffee and 10 a.m., business meeting in the home of Chris McCormick. Kathie McWhirter, Patty Madden, Sally Anderson, Vicky Bergstrom and Elizabeth Graber serving as co-hostesses. The program will be by Jean Thomson with some interesting facts discovered while researching the writing of the scripts for the vignettes, “Bringing our Founders to Life.”

Joyce Dennison, reporting for the Henry County Sesquicentennial committee, shared that a bronze plaque commemorating the birth place of P.E.O. with a brief description of the goals and purpose of P.E.O. will be erected in front of Old Main on the Iowa Wesleyan University campus. Karen Brimhall shared that a fund-raiser, with all four Henry County chapters of P.E.O. participating, will be at the Pizza Hut Wing Street, in Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday, Aug. 22. Forms were passed and members were encouraged to dine anytime between the hours of 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. to receive a percentage of the sales.

At the close of the meeting, Moeller, delegate to the Iowa State P.E.O. Convention, which was held on June 3 - 4, at the Des Moines Marriott, gave the report of the convention with several highlights.

At the close of the program, the co-hostesses assited members in sharing together a “friendship salad” luncheon.
