Rex L. Williams, 86, of rural Birmingham, died on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at Keosauqua Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at Pedrick Funeral Home, in Keosauqua, with Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Visitation will open at 3 p.m., on Tuesday, at the funeral home, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, in Birmingham.

Memorials to Maple Hill Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 406 East Main St., Wayland, Iowa 52654.

Williams was born on Feb. 5, 1930, in rural Birmingham, to Lester and Minnie Jones Williams. He graduated from Birmingham High School. He married Evelyn Aringdale on Oct. 13, 1956, in Spring River Church, near Columbus Junction. She preceded him in death.

He spent his active life farming in the area where he was born.

Williams is survived by two sons, Gayle (Julie) Williams, of McPherson, Kan.; and Myron Williams, of Wayland; three granddaughters; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; and three sisters, Donna Johnson, of Jefferson City, Mo., Barbara (Harry) Anderson, of Birmingham, and Joyce (Dean) Lenz, of Mesa, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kent Williams.
