Richard “Pete” Dale Wilcox, 65, Stockport and formerly of Bloomfield, died July 18, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Stockport Methodist Church with the Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Visitation will be open from noon to 1 p.m. at the church with the family present prior to the service. Private family burial will be in Kilbourne Cemetery.

Memorials to the Hope Lodge in Iowa City may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 16241 Juniper Trail, Birmingham, Iowa 52535.

Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua handled the cremation.

He was born in Pulaski on Nov. 21, 1947, to Hubert and Inez McMains Wilcox and married Sheryl Barker on Oct. 7, 1969. The couple later divorced.

He lived most of his life in Davis County going to school at Indian Hills Community College and Kirkwood Community College and worked at Mid-States in Milton as a welder and a truck driver in the area, American Tank in Bloomfield and All-States in Memphis. He served in the Navy from 1965 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. He had been a member of the VFW in Bloomfield and a member of the Saddle Clubs in both Drakesville and Bloomfield. He loved his family, enjoyed collecting coins, fast horses and faster cars.

He is survived by two daughters, Serena Sherod (David) of Birmingham and Samantha Wilcox-Zimmer of Stockport; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Jerry Dean Wilcox of Redwood, Calif. and Lawrence William (Barbara) Wilcox of La Crosse, Wis., a sister Martha Droz of Raleigh, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marilyn Bride and Ann Beitz; four brothers, Francis James, Farrell (Willie), Leonard (Buzz) and Loren (Buck) Wilcox.
