Road work projects to begin Tuesday in MP

Aug 31, 2017

A pair of street construction projects will begin Tuesday, Sept. 5, in Mt. Pleasant.

On that day, Cessford Construction will begin removing the surface from West Washington Street from the west side of Kinney’s driveway to Saunders Avenue.

Traffic will be able to travel on Washington Street during construction with the aid of floggers. The milling overlay projects will take approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

Also on Sept. 5, West Courtland Street will be closed from the west end of Carnahan Street west to the city limits. Traffic will be allowed east of the country club on Courtland to local homes and businesses.

However, the road will be closed at the city limits. The Carnahan and Courtland intersection will remain open at all times.

The surface on Courtland will be removed, the grade reworked and an asphalt overlay applied. The project will take approximately four to six weeks, weather permitting.
