Ruth Marie Hesseltine

Ruth Marie Hesseltine, 89, Winfield, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Winfield Open Bible Church with the Revs. Edward Spencer and Bill Hornback officiating. Burial will follow at the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield. The family will meet with friends following the funeral service at a luncheon at the Open Bible Youth Center.

A general memorial has been established in her name.

The daughter of Hanmer and Sylvia (Litton) Bailey, she was born Feb. 6, 1924, in rural Henry County. On Oct. 4, 1942, she married Lester Hesseltine at Colorado Springs, Colo. He preceded her in death. She was a graduate of the Salem High School. She farmed with her husband and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Winfield Open Bible Church and very active in church-related organizations.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard Hesseltine of Winfield; Kenneth Hesseltine of Rockford; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary Bailey of Kentucky and one sister, Imogene Dorsey of Mt. Pleasant;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, three sisters and two brothers.
