Sarah Mabel Stocks, 91, Arlington, died on Tuesday morning, Feb. 4, 2014, at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, at the Arlington United Methodist Church in Arlington; The Rev. Julie Ahrens will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington, and after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Oelwein.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Arlington Ambulance and EMT’s or the Arlington United Methodist Church.

She was born on May 16, 1922, at Epworth, and was the daughter of Bert S. and Lula E. (Story) Oberfoell. She attended Millville Rural School from first grade to the eighth grade. She graduated from Epworth High School in 1940. She married Chester Wright Stocks on Dec. 19, 1945. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Arlington United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Rural Outlook Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan (Roger) Nielsen of Battle Creek, and Jean (Mathew) Lawler of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, William “Bill” (Irene) Stocks of Oelwein, and James Stocks of Arlington; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren and one brother, Richard Oberfoell of Remer, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and a brother, Walter Oberfoell.
