Supervisors receive more complaints from Prottsman Sanitation about littering

Henry County Supervisors are again urging residents to mind Prottsman Sanitation’s hours in New London lest they be ticketed.

A complaint from Mike Prottsman about a New London resident leaving his garbage outside the area right before Prottsman Sanitation opened prompted Supervisors to discuss a format for how these violations should be handled.

“(The trash bag) was sitting right at the post, which states the hours. It’s equivalent to littering,” Supervisor Greg Moeller said during the Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, June 5.

“Equivalent to throwing it in the ditch,” Supervisor Gary See added.

Supervisors will reach out to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office to send a deputy to the residence of the violator and speak with him.

The problem of trash bags left unattended at Prottsman Sanitation was first brought to Supervisors in February when they decided bags left unattended warranted a ticket from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

In other news, Supervisors approved transferring $300,000 from Capital Improvement funds to Economic Development funds. The money was transferred earlier in the year to pay for the starting costs on the Law Enforcement Center until the county received the bond money.

The transfer is part of the 2017 fiscal year budget amendment Supervisors approved last week.

“Everything balances out,” County Auditor Shelly Barber said.
