Trumpeter swans have been seen around Mt. Pleasant on the Skunk River bottom and on lakes in the area. These four were on a lake east of Mt. Pleasant. They may be mates since Trumpeter swans mate for life. At one time they were nearly extinct. However, through efforts of careful game managment, the Trumpeter — the largest water fowl in the world — can once again be enjoyed by the public in their natural habitat.
