The Texas Tenors make third trip back to Burlington Civic Music with RISE show

Sep 05, 2017

Burlington — America’s favorite tenors are heading back to Burlington with RISE, an all-new concert featuring a stellar group of musicians that complement their performance of classic rock favorites, pop, country and Broadway — including a showstopping tribute to one of the most beloved musicals of all-time, “Les Misérables.” The show is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Memorial Auditorium, 200 N. Front St., Burlington. The Harry and Virginia Murray Foundation is sponsoring The Texas Tenors’ performance in Burlington.

RISE is The Texas Tenors’ latest album, and it was part of special programming premiering on Public Broadcasting System stations last month. During their performance, the tenors, J.C. Fisher (“the romantic tenor”), Marcus Collins (“the contemporary tenor”) and John Hagen (“the opera tenor”), will treat audience members to favorites from RISE, including orchestral arrangements of “Amazing Grace,” The Righteous Brothers’ “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin,’” John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and an emotional rendition of the Irving Berlin classic “God Bless America.”

“We’re proud to welcome The Texas Tenors back to our stage,” Civic Music Board President Barbara McRoberts said. “With two of the three tenors having strong Iowa roots, it’s like coming home for them.”

Single tickets for this performance are $45 ($10 for students). They may be bought through Burlington Civic Music by calling 319-752-0336, or at the Port of Burlington Welcome Center every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets also will be available at Memorial Auditorium the night of the show.
