WEST BURLINGTON — The New London baseball team needed just one more game to lock up the SEISC South Division championship, and they went out and got it on Monday night at West Burlington.

The Tigers knocked off the Falcons 9-3 to lock up the conference championship in their second-to-last South Division game of the season.

New London put up a run in the top of the second to take an early lead. West Burlington scored two runs in the second inning, but New London added three in the third to take a 4-2 advantage.

The Tigers started to break things open with two runs in the top of the fifth. West Burlington cut the lead back to three runs, at 6-3, with one run in the sixth but New London added three insurance runs in the seventh to run away with the six-run win.

Sam Loyd went 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the offense. Mason Porter went 1-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Javis Krieger was 1-2 with two runs scored, and Isaac McSorley went 1-4 with two runs scored.

McSorley had a good outing on the mound. He threw a complete game, giving up just three earned runs on three hits and one walk, while striking out 11 Falcons in his seven innings of work.

New London will close out the regular season on Thursday, July 5, before getting set for the district tournament next week.
